Up Up and Away… I Uploaded My First Italian Cooking Video!

It is true.  After nearly an entire day of getting the video shot, retakes (I forgot one of the ingredients at one point), editing, and then the terror of figuring out how to YouTube it online and make it viewable on the site…. it is finished.  (I have a heart warming story at the end so read this whole post).  I chose to do my Cannellini Bean Soup Recipe because well, I was just so darn excited to do my first video I didn’t want to wait!   I took about 30 minutes of raw footage and chopped it down to about 8 minutes.   It still might be too long, it really is hard deciding what to keep in and what to take out.  Especially since once I get talking about a topic I like I tend to go on and on and on and on…

(Don’t forget about my heartwarming story soon to come…) Here is the link to view it on the SimpleItalianCooking website:  http://www.simpleitaliancooking.com/movies/cannellini-bean-soup-movie.htm.  YouTube really is a bear to navigate so I’m including the videos right on my site where it is easy to play.  Slower connections may have a longer time loading, the file was pretty big.

So here is the amazing story that will touch your heart.  I’ve been wanting to get a nice digital camera which I could use to make a few videos for the site.   However at the time I couldn’t justify the purchase.   My husband tried to push me to get one but I still said let’s wait.    When out to dinner with my family I mentioned casually to my brother Dan about how I wanted to get a camera but was waiting.   Danny has been my biggest supporter (besides my husband) and he remembered what I said.  Yes, I’m pretty frugal with the purse.   Remember who Danny is?  He and I were the ones who did most of the Christmas dinner for 19 people.  Christmas Dinner blog post can be viewed here.  My mother did help too as I must give credit where credit is due.  Ok, and my sister Tina did a lot of the clean up and wouldn’t let me help.  If I’m missing anyone sorry!  That was nice.   Back to the story… after everyone opened gifts and the kids went off to play Danny came up to me infront of everyone and gave me a card and package.  I opened it up and it was the kind of camera I wanted!   He and the rest of the family all pitched in and bought me the video camera as a show of support!   I was so touched I broke down in tears immediately at which point everyone else started crying too.  Ahhh… those emotional Italians….

So I’d like to dedicate my first official video upload to my family who gave the most thoughtful gift I could have imagined.   SimpleItalianCooking.com has been a great pleasure for me and I want it to grow into a wonderful website loaded with lots of great information relating to yes… simple italian cooking.    Thank you family again from the bottom of my heart.

Don’t forget to check out the Cannellini Bean Soup video!
