Roasted garlic will fill your house with a wonderful aroma.  It is a very healthy vegetable related to the onion.   It is great for the heart and helps contribute to lowering cholesterol.  Whenever you can use garlic in recipes, do it!

There are a few ways you can roast garlic, and you will have to figure out what you think is easiest.

Standard roasting:

Take a whole head of garlic and slice off the top so all the tips are exposed.  Place the garlic head on some foil and drizzle olive oil on top trying to get it to soak in.

Next, lift the foil around the head of garlic like a pouch, letting the opening remain partially open to allow for steam to escape.  Cook at 375 for 45 minutes.

Let sit when done for about 20-30 minutes, it will be very hot!  Eat by squeezing the garlic out from the closed end working upwards.  Like a tube of toothpaste.

Easier roasting:

This method is easier in the long run, because you peel the garlic first, rather than later which can be sticky mess for you and others.  So peel the garlic cloves, place in the foil, drizzle with olive oil and bring the foil up to create a pouch – just like above.

Bake the same, 350 for 45 minutes.  The garlic will taste wonderful.

Don’t forget to let it cool.   You can serve the garlic alone, or use it for a topping on some garlic bread.

Enjoy and here’s to better health!
